The NRAO Education and Public Outreach Department offers engaging after-school and summer programs at its observatory sites and in surrounding communities across Virginia, West Virginia, and New Mexico. Designed for a range of age groups, these programs immerse participants in hands-on STEM experiences that spark curiosity and build lasting connections to science.

Terry Lowry Terry Lowry is the Education Program Manager at NRAO, where she develops educational programs, resources, and partnerships that connect students, educators, and communities with the science of radio astronomy. A former classroom teacher, school leader, and technology specialist, Terry enjoys turning complex scientific ideas into engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity and discovery. She is passionate about helping educators bring authentic STEM experiences into their classrooms and creating opportunities for learners of all ages to explore the universe.
