A Question About the Checker Cab Diesel Vehicles Used at the Green Bank Telescope Facility

Question: Do you measure the distance on your greater than 50 year old antique diesel vehicles, the one with glow plugs, in AUs? Are they used in NM and Chile as well as Green Bank VA ? Do they require a CDL? — Carl

Answer: The Checker Cab diesel vehicles used to transport staff to/from the telescopes at the Green Bank observatory are only used at the Green Bank facility. A normal drivers license is all that is required (I have driven them, and I do not have a CDL). We measure their mileage in the normal miles unit, though we could easily convert that to AU.
