Question:

Hello,
I’m wondering if there are any applications for Direction of Arrival (DoA) estimation in radio telescopes. Can you give some examples (if any).
Thank you

Answer:

In fact, Direction of Arrival (DoA) is a fundamental aspect of how all radio telescopes collect data.  Essentially all radio telescope measurements, whether they employ a single antenna, a single antenna with a multi-pixel detector, or an array of radio telescopes, use DoA to interpret the measurements made and associate those measurements to the astrophysical objects under study.
