Jupiter in the Night Sky over New York City in Late September 2020?

Question:

Hi! I believe I saw the planet Jupiter from New York City on the night of September 30th around 10pm. Is that possible?

Answer:

As there are several planets in the night sky this time of year, it is not clear which planet you saw. Could have been Mars, Jupiter, or Saturn. See the EarthSky October 2020 guide to the bright planets for specific descriptions of which planets where located where in the sky in late-September/early-October.
