Observing Schedules for the Long Baseline Observatory

-- | February 2, 2017

Question: Hello.  I will be visiting Saint Croix, USVI between February 27th through March 9th and would like to know if there is a schedule for when the satellite dish moves.  I would like to set up a time-lapse camera for part of a video I am making for my time on Saint Croix.  Thank you for a reply.  — Bill

Answer: You can find schedules for the Long Baseline Observatory, of which the USVI antenna is a member, at https://www.lbo.us/cgi-bin/schedules.cgi.  Any transition between observing program on the schedule will likely trigger a movement of the antenna.  Note also that the time axis on this schedule is in Universal Time, which is equal to the time in USVI plus 4 hours in February and March.  You just need to subtract four hours from the time on the schedule to get the local time in the USVI.
