Does the expansion of 5G and cell phone frequency allocation effect radio and other astronomy?

Answer:

Well, 5G is very different from 4G, including 5G’s use of much wider bandwidths and higher frequencies. These differences both have a potentially adverse affect on radio astronomy as it increases the potential for 5G cellular communications to interfere with radio astronomy observatories.

The National Radio Astronomy Observatory is a facility of the U.S. National Science Foundation operated under cooperative agreement by Associated Universities, Inc.
	Founded in 1956, the NRAO provides state-of-the-art radio telescope facilities for use by the international scientific community. NRAO telescopes are open to all astronomers regardless of institutional or national affiliation.
