Alberto Bolatto is a Professor of Astronomy at the University of
Maryland at College Park. He grew up in Montevideo, Uruguay, where he
did his undergraduate studies. He received his PhD from Boston
University in 2001, and worked at the University of California at
Berkeley before joining the faculty of the University of Maryland. His
expertise is in the study of galaxies, particularly the interstellar
medium, molecular clouds, the formation of stars, and the evolution of
galaxies through cosmic time.
